Florida Beach Vacations

By Gail Nettles

Are you run down and weary? A Florida beach vacation is your ticket to soothing your tired mind and body. Not only can you relax in the sun, but you can also revel in the warm waters and tropical breezes.

Florida is home to some of the best warm sandy beaches the world over, and the awards won for the standards of excellence set by the tropical shores are the envy of the travel world.

After a day at the beach, you'll want to have a meal -- and the tropical foods are a gastronomic delight! Local produce is served all over and there are foods to suit all tastes.

Surfing, diving, swimming and shopping til you drop are options, but if it is the warm sandy beaches that you long to enjoy, then here are three Florida beach vacation destinations that you should not overlook.

Daytona is considered the "world's most famous beach", and it may not be wrong. The distance across of the beach and the hard packed sand is a sight to bring amazement. But Daytona offers much more, for example the Museum of Arts and Sciences is an excellent way to spend a morning, followed by Volusia Mall or the Ocean Walk Shops to liberate your pocketbook.

When it comes to Ft. Lauderdale Beach, the wavewall and beach promenade are must-sees.. The wavewall extends for an amazing two miles along the primary part of the beach and is one of the signatures of Ft. Lauderdale. If you'd like to take a walk and do some people-watching, the promenade is the place to do it.

My special favorite is Clearwater Beach. This may have something to do with the delectable stone crab claws served at Frenchy's. But stone crab claws aside, the water is some of the warmest and most calming I have ever enjoyed. Don't even think about "just a quick dip" because the waters captivate you. And do not forget the pier for a sunset festival!

The Sunshine State has loads to experience, but a Florida beach vacation is most defintely at the very top of the list.

See you at the beach!
